Gain the Professional Recognition You've Earned

You have already created value. This work helps you recognize it, organize it into proof, and communicate it so decision-makers can quickly see you as a Trusted Advisor in your materials, communications, and interactions.

A thoughtful coaching conversation between two professionals.

Your experience is not the problem.People need to recognize what it proves.

The Problem I Solve

From Dense Expertise to Trust & Recognition

Real Edge Coaching helps MS & PhDs in any field needing greater recognition -- including STEM leaders in HCLS (PharmD, MD, MPH), Tech (MSCS, MS-ISS, MSDS), Consulting, and Nonprofit to recognize, organize, and communicate the business value they have already created so they can gain the professional recognition they have earned. We introduce you to the 3 Worlds of Perspective, then use SCAR and MASTER-D to give you a foolproof architecture for Trusted Advisor engagement across resumes, interviews, networking, and leadership conversations.

Most clients come to me at a specific inflection point. They're accomplished. They have already created value, but they are not being recognized for the level of judgment, impact, and trustworthiness they bring - in job searches, leadership rooms, promotion conversations, or environments that have stopped seeing their value clearly.

The problem isn't their credentials. It's the recognition gap - the space between what they know they did, what their audience needs to understand, and what the market or organization must recognize before it can trust them with the next opportunity.

I don't just fix resumes. I help you communicate your value so it can be recognized in every room you walk into.

Recent result: Won the Yes recommendation from the Steering Committee and Dean over an internal candidate for Chief of Cardiology at a leading academic research hospital. Same expertise. Recognition-ready proof. Completely different room.

The Core Method

The 3 Worlds of Perspective

What I call "soft skill engineering" starts by escaping your own perspective, where your view feels like the whole truth, and the pain becomes "no one gets me." With 188 named cognitive biases and counting, everyone lives inside their own perspective bias; it is simply easier to see someone else's distortion than your own - the naive-realism trap. Rising out of first-person self-focus to enter the second-person perspective of your audience, and ground the story in the larger truth of the market, organization, workflow, or system, requires the same rigor you use for engineering hard phenomena: physics, electronics, biology. Gaining perspective mobility is what makes recognition possible across resumes, interviews, networking, leadership conversations, and unexpected questions.

How to read the model

1st Person
What I did
2nd Person
What they need
3rd Person
What the world requires

The Behavioral Science Stack Behind Recognition

Not everyone needs the full stack. But when confidence, trust, communication, and narrative have all been affected, the sequence matters. Most career coaching addresses one layer of the recognition problem; I can address all four because each layer enables the next.

Layer 1 - Emotional Regulation

The Foundation

Before I build your narrative, I address what's underneath it. If your environment has eroded your confidence, activated a threat response, or left you in survival mode, no amount of resume optimization reaches the real problem. I start here - with a scientifically-proven emotional management practice developed by a PhD that resets your baseline so everything else works faster and lands harder.

Layer 2 - Trust Architecture

The Science

The MASTER-D Trust Framework - grounded in Cialdini, Kahneman, Goleman, Cuddy, Edmondson & Thaler. The behavioral science of building trust in high-stakes professional relationships. Applied to careers, leadership conversations, toxic environment exits, difficult bosses, and any context where your expertise needs to land with people who think differently than you do.

Layer 3 - Perspective Mobility

The Soft Skill Engineering Shift

The 3 Worlds of Perspective move you from first-person expertise into second-person audience concerns - the WIIFT view, What's In It For Them - and third-person business reality. This is the architecture of influence: what I sometimes call "soft skill engineering": not manipulating people, but escaping the sunken-place loop of "no one gets me" so you can see your own bias, then see what the room, relationship, market, or system needs before you answer. The practice is simple to name and hard to master: 1st person, what I did; 2nd person, what they need; 3rd person, what the world requires.

Layer 4 - Recognition-Ready Narrative

The Output

The SCAR Narrative Method - Situation, Complication, Action, Result. SCAR brings story architecture into business communication: what mattered, what got harder, what you did, and what changed. It turns your technical expertise, clinical depth, and business impact into recognizable proof that hiring managers, executives, promotion committees, and decision-makers can understand, remember, and trust. SCAR is also used to analyze career targets, so you can understand their case and speak to it in interviews. The hand-crafted resume, interview talk tracks, and LinkedIn narrative are built here - from a grounded, regulated, 3 Worlds-oriented baseline.

Starting with Layer 1 when it's needed helps the rest of the work move faster, land cleaner, and hold under pressure.

The stack explains why the recognition work holds. The process below shows how I apply it: first stabilizing the baseline, then using perspective mobility to architect materials, conversations, and search strategy that help other people recognize and act on your value.

The Real Edge Process

Build your candidacy. Then run your campaign.

Most clients start by building the core candidacy: target, story, resume, LinkedIn, and application language. Search Support is the next layer when you need a focused campaign rhythm, outreach structure, and live market feedback.

Higher-touch coaching packages can cover both phases: building the recognition-ready candidacy and then running the supported search campaign.
